Wild At Heart

book

Wild At Heart: Adolescents, Horses & Other Kindred Spirits is based on over 25 years spent working with teens in mental health, education and addiction treatment programs. The book is also based on my life-long fascination with horses and the many ways in which I see them as similar to teens. Throughout my career, I have been able to reach teens that others could not, by simply applying some solid principles known to be effective when working with horses. I began offering these insights to others when I was in an administrative role at a therapeutic school and many of the teachers and counselors found the principles helpful. The book is written using an informal style, humor, and anecdotes to bring the principles to life. It is intended primarily for parents, teachers, coaches, and others working with teens. My hope is that it breaks down some of the barriers and reduces some of the frustration that adults and teens feel with one another.
